In April 2009, the public limited liability company VST became the member of the Global Compact. The aim of the Global Compact is to encourage companies to act responsibly, participate in solving social and environmental problems, and contribute to society development and economic growth.
The Global Compact is the largest voluntary corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, which aims at helping businesses to incorporate the Global Compact principles into their business strategies, and promoting national and transnational cooperation and partnership between different sectors.
The Global Compact involves all relevant social actors: governments, which set the principles for this initiative; companies, to which this initiative is oriented; labour force, who perform specific manufacturing processes; civil society organisations, representing a wider community; and the United Nations, the world’s only truly global political forum.
